Excavation Los Angeles digs and grades: ADU and addition pads, foundation and footing excavation, hillside grading, pool digs, utility and sewer trenching, demolition and haul-off, retaining-wall cuts and site clearing, across the City of Los Angeles and the cities around it.
Much of Los Angeles is hillside, much of the flat ground is mapped for liquefaction, and the permit office depends on which city the lot is in. A dig here is planned around DigAlert, the building department, grading hours and where the soil goes as much as around the machine.
We walk the lot first: the narrowest point a machine has to pass, where the utilities and the sewer lateral run, how steep the ground is, and where trucks can load. Then we check what the city will ask for, and you get a written scope before any work starts.
A written scope: what gets dug, where the soil goes, which permits and notices the job needs, and what has to happen before the machine arrives.
Compact excavators and skid steers for side yards and tight lots, larger excavators where the lot allows, and dump trucks for export. The machine is chosen for the access, not the other way round.
